The Turbosmart StraightGate40 is the smallest butterfly-style external wastegate designed for tight engine bay spaces and optimal fitment. As a zero-offset butterfly wastegate, the StraightGate40 delivers exceptional flow and nearly linear control, ensuring precise boost management across the entire operational range.
Building on the success of the award-winning eSG50, Turbosmart introduces the eSG40 Electronic StraightGate, a patent-pending innovation. This electronic wastegate eliminates the need for reference hoses, springs, and diaphragms, offering full electronic control via a servo motor and Turbosmart’s unique zero-back drive gearbox. This design reduces current draw and ensures stable operation, even under extreme drive pressures. The eSG40 features onboard sensors that monitor actuator temperature and valve position, providing both analog and digital feedback. Electronic actuation offers an expansive tuning range, from zero boost (if manifold conditions allow) to the maximum available boost.
Designed from scratch and rigorously validated in-house, the StraightGate40 sets a new standard for wastegate flow and control. Its zero-offset butterfly valve is subjected to equal exhaust drive pressure on both sides, pivoting centrally for self-balancing action. This self-balancing mechanism reduces the effort needed to actuate against high drive pressures, allowing for a wider tuning window regardless of the actuation method. Increased flow is achieved through the efficiency of a straight-through valve design, compared to the traditional poppet-style valve, where the exhaust gases must be redirected by 90 degrees.
